AME Info reports (16 October 2008) the announcement that the UAE will soon create a company to oversee a 900km rail line from Fujairah to the Saudi border.The proposed railway could feed into an international system, currently being discussed by GCC states.
No details yet on dates and the type of rail service proposed.

Well, if they do look like the one in the image, they probably won't also be called the ICE trains in the UAE!
In Europe the ICE (Inter City Express) trains run between major cities and they are great to travel on. We were last on one to Berlin on Thursday. They travel at 250kph.
